Tell us a bit about yourself and how you like to get outside?

Having grown up in Cornwall, I now live in South Devon and feel incredibly lucky to have spent my years in a beautiful part of the UK. I always say to people that I’ll never move from Devon and Cornwall, it has a special place in my heart. I take full advantage of what’s on my doorstep, getting outside and exploring the along the South West Coastal Path, in the summer I love walking to find hidden coves for a sea swim and in the winter I adore heading to Dartmoor for a long hike, getting out in the fresh air and blowing the cobwebs away!

I fit all of my adventuring around my 9-5 day job, I work in healthcare and look after employee wellbeing, inclusion and engagement. I love spending time outside and the positive effects it provides for my overall wellbeing.

What’s your favourite route or place to go and why?

Holly’s Favourite Hiking Route – Rollercoaster Path to Port Quin

It’s tough to choose 1 favourite route… I recently walked from Port Issac to Port Quin. They call this the “rollercoaster path” due to all of the ups, downs, twists and turns along the coast path. It’s a challenging route but you are rewarded with endless stunning views of the Cornish coast and and ice-cream in Port Issac at the end!

You can find this route on the Explorer Map OL 106

What’s your fave bit of kit?

I am very practical, and the small things will help you enjoy your time outdoors just that little more, like having:

  1. A decent pair of walking boots
  2. Comfortable socks – I can recommend Bridgedale or Darn Tough!
  3. A handy piece of kit for those rainy walks is the Map case (mine gets used a lot in the winter on Dartmoor)
  4. A backpack to fit your waterproof coat, snacks and a drink.
  5. I also love the an outdoor robe, if you like cold water swimming, having an item like this makes all the difference in the cooler months.
