Here at OS, we firmly believe an active outdoor lifestyle helps you live longer, stay younger and enjoy life more. The GetOutside app allows you to make the most of your time outside and gives you the confidence to go outdoors – knowing where to go and what to do. Planning a great day out has never been easier!

Having insider knowledge is great, so why not tell others about your favourite places and events? Add them straight to the app so others can enjoy them too. You can also add photos to help people learn more about a place.

The basics

Q1: Why do I need to create an account?

Everyone needs an account to be able to save your favourite activities – helping you plan your next day out. By having an account, you’ll also be able to manage the photos, places and events you’ve added.

Q2: If I already have an account with Ordnance Survey, can I use the same account details?

Yes, we want to keep things simple. One account can be used for GetOutside, OS Maps, the OS Shop and Secret Stories.

Q3: How do I reset my password?

If you’ve forgotten your password, on log in, simply click ‘Forgot password?’ and follow the reset password link emailed to you. Don’t forget to check your junk mail!

Q4: How can I change my email address or password?

Go to:

  • Settings
  • My OS Account (your name and email)
  • Change email address or change password
  • You’ll be taken to the OS website to type in your new details

Q5: Does the app work if I don’t have any internet signal?

No, currently you need to have internet signal for the app to work, but we’re working on a solution to let you search offline, so watch this space.
