Meet Gabriella Wieland

Gabriella Wieland

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you like to get outside?

Hello! I’m Gab, the creator behind @Getlostmcr. I started Getlost to show people living in a city you don’t always need to travel a million miles away, or climb the highest mountain, to reconnect with nature and fully unplug.  Adventure is what you make of it — and sometimes, the best adventures are those hidden gems found right on your own doorstep.

Gabriella Wieland

With the help of OS Maps, I try to shine a light on the routes less-travelled, hoping to inspire people to leave the hustle and bustle behind, escape the routine, and get ‘lost’ in nature… even if it is for half an hour on their lunch break.

Parkhouse, Chrome and Hollins Hills, DerbyshireStaffordshire

Gabriella Wieland’s Favourite Hiking Route – Parkhouse, Chrome and Hollins Hills, Derbyshire/Staffordshire

While my favourite routes are typically those less-travelled,  it’s a popular Peak District walk that steals the top spot for me: Dragon’s Back. It’s truly an otherworldly place that I find myself going back to time and time again. It just never misses! The walk up to Chrome and Parkhouse hill really makes you feel like you’ve stepped inside the Tolkien universe, and who doesn’t want that from their Sunday wander?

What’s your fave bit of kit available on the OS Shop?

I love this Osprey daypack for two reasons: it’s lightweight enough for my shorter frame, but still packs everything I need in Including trekking pole attachments for those precarious descents.
