Tell us a bit about yourself and how you like to get outside?

Nestled in the heart of the mountains, I am a waterwoman who finds joy and inspiration in the natural world. As a marine biologist and conservationist, I dedicate my life to understanding and protecting our precious aquatic ecosystems. From the seas across to the mountain ranges where the breaking waves meet the mountain side, the lapping of the water is where I create my sanctuary, where I seamlessly blend my passions for the coast and the mountains where swimming, surfing and hiking collide. I revel in the serenity of crystal-clear lakes of Eryri, their cool, pristine waters inviting me to dive in and lose myself in their depths. Whilst also finding joy in rummaging for hidden creatures in rockpools embracing a swim treat surprise. Surfing is another love of mine, you cant beat the feeling of being schooled by the ocean, listening to the sound of the waves and the calls of the oystercatchers above. Here, amidst the rugged beauty of nature, I discover a profound sense of peace and boundless adventure, always eager to embrace the challenges and wonders that the wild has to offer, while tirelessly working to preserve its splendour for future generations.

What’s your favourite route or place to go and why?

Becks Favourite Hiking Route

My favourite place to walk is a local circular which takes in a calmer quieter passage to view Yr Wyddfa, which takes in turquoise waterfall pools of the Afon Cwm Llan and Llyn Dinas lake. One of my favourites due to it being a route that I first navigated myself when I moved to Eryri and it has lots of swimming opportunities which is perfect for a post hike dunk with my springer spaniel Floki. I also saw my first redstart on this hike which was super special.

What’s your fave bit of kit available on the OS Shop?

A few things really, the binoculars range due to it being my idea of walking heaven to be able to better view any wildlife. And then nothing sort of a miracle is the Yr Wydffa microfibre towel as this is a perfect addition to a swim hike as it’s so light weight and easy to carry.
