- OS Champion
Adrian Conchie
Meet Adrian Conchie – Qualified Mountain Leader who loves a challenge
Tell us a bit about yourself and how you like to get outside?
I am extremely passionate about the outdoors and I spend nearly every moment of my spare
time either in the mountains, or hiking various trails in the UK. I am a qualified Mountain Leader
and lead regular guided mountain hikes in the Lake District and Eryri (Snowdonia).
I like to set myself challenges and I am currently climbing all 442 mountains of England & Wales.
I have also completed several other challenges, e.g. completing all 214 Wainwrights in the Lake
District, doing the 47 mile Windermere Way in 1 day, the 77 mile Cumbria Way in 2 days, the
West Highland Way in 3 days and more!
I believe the outdoors provides an unbeatable way of keeping healthy, both physically &
mentally. It is the perfect way to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life and being
outdoors amongst nature is personally my ultimate therapy. I love being able to inspire others
and to show them the benefits that the Outdoors can bring, which is one of the reasons I am so
proud to become an OS Champion.

What’s your favourite route/ place to go and why?
Adrian Conchie’s Favourite Route – Bowfell, Esk Pike and Rossett Pike
This is a difficult question to answer – however, off the top of my head I would say that one of
my favourite routes is Bowfell, Esk Pike and Rossett Pike from Great Langdale. I spend a great
deal of my time in Great Langdale and I think that it’s one of the most beautiful valleys in the
Lake District. It is also the exact route that I did with my young son for my final Wainwright
(Bowfell), so it really does have some fantastic memories for me and one that I would revisit
again and again!

What’s your fave bit of kit available on the OS Shop?
Probably the OS Contour Small Microfibre Towel! After a long day in the mountains, I sometimes
like to dip my feet or have a little paddle in a stream, tarn or lake – especially after a hot day in
Summer. This towel packs down very small and is extremely lightweight too, so it’s perfect to
carry in your backpack so that you can dry your feet after a spontaneous dip. I love the design
too!
