In 2024, Sunday September 29th was National Get Outside day, with the theme being ‘the outdoors is yours’. It’s a message that’s close to my heart, as I’m passionate about all people of all abilities getting active outdoors in a way that works for them.
Red Changing Robe Review

Connecting with nature is critical for me to maintain good mental health, as well as the physical benefits it brings. In particular, our blue spaces – like our canals, rivers, lakes and seas – have helped me through a lot of tough times.
When I found out that my local Mental Health Swims group were planning a beach clean and sea swim on National Get Outside day, it was an easy choice to join them!
Amazingly, I packed my Red Equipment Pro Change EVO changing robe into an Osprey Tempest 20 Women’s daypack along with some snacks, swimming costume, and neoprene gloves and boots, before cycling the 10 miles from home to Roseisle beach.
Being able to fit everything I needed for a dip in the north sea in autumn into a 20l backpack is a game changer for helping me to keep dipping regularly throughout the cooler seasons.
There was already a chill in the air as I met the growing group of beach cleaners and dippers. I pulled out the Red EVO Pro changing robe and relished in the immediate hug it gave me from exceptionally soft Sherpa fleece lining. Definitely softer than other brands I have used in the past.
I felt at one with the sea from the gorgeous Alpine Blue colour way as we paired up. Armed with litter pickers, we scoured a stretch of the beach, recording our finds as we went. The data informs campaigns around the world. The data gets taken to the government to help introduce new legislation in order to protect our planet.
The changing robe never felt heavy or sweaty during the litter pick. It was great knowing I was doing my bit for the environment in more ways than one. The Red EVO Pro is made from recycled materials too.
Time for a ‘Wee Dook’
Then it was time for a wee dook, as we say in Scotland! The water was about 11 degrees. We managed roughly 20 minutes floating and playing in the waves together, putting the world to right. The Red EVO Pro changing robe felt amazing to snuggle up in afterwards.

Now for the Red Changing Robe Review…
It was perfect to help keep me warm and dry. It has a durable 15k waterproof shell with 8k breathability. At 5’2 I wear a small, which gives me ideal coverage when getting dressed. The two way zips were very handy to be able to use from both inside the robe as well as outside!
I particularly love the details of magnetic closures on the handwarmer pockets. There’s an internal hot water bottle pocket for those extra chilly days and it’s perfect for stashing your underwear for a super quick change. My phone also stayed dry and secure in the zip chest pocket. With the reflective branding on the cuff and hem of the robe I was already thinking about using it on some moonlit dips!
Biscuits and a hot chocolate later, along with a little bit of wildlife spotting and I couldn’t help but feel happier on my cycle back home. Did you know the Moray firth is home to the world’s most northerly colony of Bottlenose dolphins? It is one of only two resident pods in the whole of the UK. There’s nothing spending time outside with good people can’t fix, especially when a good deed and some water is involved.
I would still recommend taking along a towel to dry off before using the Red EVO Pro changing robe to get dressed and warm up in. The peaked hood and rolled cuffs also make it a great option for sitting round the campfire on cooler evenings. Especially for long days spent outside in the cold and wet, such as volunteering or spectating at sporting events. The Red EVO Pro changing robe will definitely be a feature in many of my adventures for years to come.
