Inspired by the heart-warming tale of love and resilience in “The Salt Path“, we invited our OS Champions to reveal special routes that are filled with meaning for them. In this post we hear from Elizabeth Asad and why this out and back route up Moel Siabod holds a special place in her heart.
You Never Forget Your First Solo Summit!
I chose Moel Siabod to share because it was my first solo mountain summit, on one of the hottest days of 2024. I thought about turning back a few times, but like in The Salt Path the journey is what kept me going. The sense of accomplishment at the summit was incredible and I definitely left a piece of my heart up there.

Moel Siabod out and back from Plas y Brenin. Moel Siabod offers a little bit of everything – forests, quarries, lakes, waterfalls and a grade 1 scramble if you wish to the top.
