Zoe Turner
Meet Zoe Turner – An ordinary family who seek out Sunday adventures.
What drives you to spend time outside?
The children. They are the main drive for us to #GetOutside for our mental and physical heath. They are so much happier when we spend time outside.
Where are your favourite places to go?
We mainly head towards the Peak District, but we are known to travel up and down the UK, Scotland and Wales to discover other areas.
What is your favourite thing to do outdoors?
We are a hiking family but will try our hand at most outdoor adventures. Last year we had our first go at paddle boarding, and I must say, it was the most fun we’ve ever had as a family.
Who inspires you and how?
We draw our inspiration from people around us. From the families and individuals we follow on social media and the hiking community itself. The average families getting out for days in the country side or choosing to climb England’s’ highest peak. They inspire us to think, if they can do it, then so can we.
What are your focuses this year to help people get outside more often?
We run a group called Hikerkidz which was born through Instagram and Facebook. We noticed there was a gap in the hiking trend, where children weren’t as much of a focus. So, we arrange meet ups with other families, to connect and enjoy the great outdoors together. We hope to arrange more of these meets in areas around the country to get all the children outside!
What are your 3 biggest life achievements?
Personally, we haven’t done anything ‘amazing’ as such. I’m proud that we have managed to raise 3 resilient children who love the outdoors and are happy to do things as a family. We raised money for charity with long distance hiking, and of course, we are honoured to become #GetOutside champions. Our biggest achievement is yet to come, when we walk Hadrians’ Wall later this year.
3 words you live by…
Explore. Dream. Discover.
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Cake. We walk mainly for cake!
