What drives you to spend time outside?
Simplicity of nature and ‘outdoor living’. Freedom. Mental Health. Experiences, not things. Beauty.
Where are your favourite places to go?
Anywhere quiet and a little bit quirky!
What is your favourite thing to do outdoors?
A little bit of everything! The more variety we can fit in, the better.
Who inspires you and how?
We get inspired most by all the ‘average joes’ who continue to make time for getting out and doing their thing.
What are your focusses this year to help people get outside more often?
Our biggest focus this year is simply to encourage our friends, family, and colleagues to get outside more often. The routine of working life can quickly become a comfort blanket if we let it, but the more we can get people experiencing new things and going new places, the healthier and happier we will be (and our environment, too!).
What are your 3 biggest life achievements?
Squeezing in some decent races with full time jobs (Ironman 70.3, Road Cycling Amateur World Championships), raising awareness for the health benefits of getting outside through campaigns like Mountains for the Mind and Climbers Against Cancer, and being able to share the awesomeness of having an adventure cat on live television!
3 words you live by…
Try everything once!
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Almost all of Gee’s guilty pleasures are musical ones. Andy often wonders if it’s ok to train more just so that he can eat more.
