Garmin’s Fenix 7 series are the latest high-performance GPS watches on the market and have gathered much excitement from every type of outdoor lover. They are built around a 7-day week, with a battery life to last all of them and enough activity types to keep you busy.

We take a look at the new features which make the new Garmin Fenix 7 series a cut above the rest. Featuring the Garmin Fenix 7, Garmin Fenix 7S and Garmin Fenix 7x in both Standard, Solar and Sapphire Solar editions.

Battery life

For those who enjoy longer sessions, bigger challenges or just want a reliable long-lasting battery, the Garmin Fenix 7 series does not disappoint. The Solar and Sapphire Solar models use the sun’s energy to extend battery life by an average of 30% over regular use. Battery life varies between each model with the Fenix 7X Solar and Sapphire Solar editions being the best.

The Garmin Fenix 7 series is built to last. The rugged watch face has been tested to military standard and varies in size depending on the model – 7S is smaller, 7X is bigger. As well as the trusty button controls, the Fenix 7 series is fully touchscreen compatible for efficient activity recording and quick and easy access through the screens. This gives you piece of mind that whatever the activity and whatever the conditions, you won’t need to take it off. New to Garmin, the Fenix 7X includes a nifty LED torch which lets you stay out after dark. On each of the models (7S, 7, 7X) there’s the option of a scratch-proof Power Sapphire™ lens (Sapphire Solar editions) which keeps it looking spick and span for longer.

Real-time stamina and endurance tracking, advanced performance metrics and more than 30 built-in sports apps will take your training up a gear. This multi-sport watch can record any activity, outdoors and in. There are preloaded activity profiles for trail running, swimming, running, biking, hiking, rowing, skiing, golfing, surfing, indoor climbing and more. The Garmin Fenix 7 series boasts new, advanced features for several activities include surfing (Surfline Sessions™), mountain biking (Grit™ and Flow™), HITT and backcountry ski. So, whether you’re recording your daily workout or a weekend adventure, you’ll be able to track every detail, helping you to improve performance week on week.

Based on your running history and overall fitness level, the new visual race predictor provides an estimate of what your pace could be for the distance you want to run. You’ll also be able to look at data trends to learn how your training is going over time.

One of the most useful new features for runners is understanding what’s up ahead. Knowing what selected POI checkpoints are coming up, you can effectively manage your fuelling and efficiency. View performance metrics, splits and distance/elevation, plus a summary of key points on the trail, taking your off-road running to a whole new level. With the Garmin Fenix 7 series you can monitor your stamina on the go to track and manage your exertion, helping you better understand how your stamina changes during activities to avoiding overexerting at the start of your race.

Navigation

Head off the beaten path with the Fenix 7 series detailed navigation by downloading multi-continent TopoActive maps plus additional maps for golf courses and ski resorts worldwide. The built-in Wi-Fi® lets you download additional mapping for any place at any time, without the need of a computer. The Sapphire Solar editions come preloaded with Topo maps, which allow you to view terrain contours, elevations, summits, parks, coastlines, rivers, lakes and other geographical features. It also comes with superior accuracy using technology previously only available to the military.

The Fenix 7 series offers the highest level of accuracy, so you’ll always know where you are. This is due to a new multi-band frequency and GNSS network support (GPS, GLONASS and Galileo) plus built-in sensors for 3-axis compass, gyroscope and barometric altimeter. Access multiple global navigation satellite systems (GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO). The Sapphire Solar Edition also comes preloaded with local region Topo, which allows you to view terrain contours, elevations, summits, parks, coastlines, rivers, lakes and other geographical features. It also comes with superior accuracy using technology previously only available to the military.

Even when you’re resting, the Garmin Fenix 7 series will make sure you’re in tip top condition with 247 health and wellness monitoring, Pulse Ox4, heart rate, respiration, stress and enhanced sleep tracking. This will help you recover faster and improve your overall wellness. The much-loved heath features such as Body Battery energy tracking and hydration tracking, seen in its predecessor the Garmin Fenix 6, is also there.
