One of England’s Most Iconic Coastal Hikes
A short bus ride from Eastbourne Station to Seven Sisters Country Park takes you to the start of one of England’s most iconic coastal walks.

The hike begins with a gentle walk along the Cuckmere River, offering beautiful views of the valley and hills. Take a moment to enjoy the Seven Sisters cliffs from ground level before ascending the first hill – Haven Brow, where you’ll be rewarded with vast vistas of the sea and the undulating chalk cliffs in the distance.

Follow the trail along the South Downs Way, also part of King Charles’ Coastal Path, taking in the dramatic landscapes of the coast and cliffs as you climb over the hills. You’ve reached the end of the Seven Sisters when you arrive at the National Trust’s Birling Gap, time for a break by the sea!

Continue on the South Downs which leads past Belle Tout Lighthouse, don’t forget to look back to admire the complete stretch of the Seven Sisters you’ve just hiked across before they’re out of view. Then towards Beachy Head, you’ll soon spot the iconic lighthouse below the cliffs, follow the South Downs Way along to Eastbourne Pier, have a bite to eat before making your way back to the station.

This hike is both invigorating and exhilarating, combining cliffs, coasts, sea breeze, salty air, the sound of the waves and truly breathtaking views from start to finish!
