Rooley Moor Circular
For the more experienced mtb riders, starting from Watergrove car park, this is my most favourite route within the area due to its rough, rocky, adrenaline fuelling terrain. The Rooley Moor climb reveals the most beautiful views which on a clear day, display the beauty of not only the Peak District but also the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountain range. I mean, does it get better than that?
Once you take the right off the Rooley Moor bridal way, there is a rather fast and flowey, rocky path which descends down to Lee Quarry mountain biking trail centre, an absolutely firing one at that if you’re a thrill seeker like myself!

Lee Quarry contains berms, various sized table tops, steep technical descents graded red and black. Upon arrival, take note of the way markers which display the grades of the routes. If you’re unsure, recce them first on foot-which is easier to do in the colder parts of the year when it’s quiet. This route is far more fun if you bring company along with you, and not to mention if you’re a coffee addict like myself, Taylor’s coffee bags, Hot Lava Java is my favourite flavour, which goes perfectly well with this super hot route!

The coffee addict that I am, I just have to have another cup along the shore of Watergrove Reservoir on my way back, where I take a moment to calm my very excited-self after such a thrilling adventure!
