Dunwich Hourglass Run
This route takes in the best of Dunwich, a small historic village on the Suffolk coast. Dunwich used to be a much larger town, however most of the original buildings have been lost to the sea due to floods and storms, with only a fraction of the old town now remaining.

Starting from the beach car park, the route takes you up over the top of the rugged, eroding Dunwich cliffs and past the remains of Greyfriars and the “last gravestone”, which is all that remains from All Saints Church, which fell into the sea over 100 years ago.

You pass through forests and woodland before arriving at Dunwich Heath, part of Suffolk Coasts and Heaths AONB. Time it right and the purple heather might be in full bloom providing some stunning views across the landscape and out to sea! The sandy paths will take you around the heath before returning back to Dunwich via some great woodland trails.

The route is perfect for all abilities and provides the same stunning and dramatic views, year round.
