A Short Walk in the Peak District
Not a strenuous or long walk that allows time to appreciate the beauty of the wildflowers of Deep Dale and explore the buildings and ruins of Magpie mine. Sit with a hot coffee and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the Peak District. It’s an interesting walk and the children love to drop stones down the mine shaft and see if they can hear them hit the bottom!

This walk perfectly showcases the different sides of the Peak District, Industrial heritage and the very best nature has to offer with the beauty of the wildflowers in Deep Dale.

From Sheldon head northwards out the village and through the calming Great Shacklow Wood and into the beautiful Deep Dale valley. This nature reserve is known for its abundance of wildflowers which are nestled into the spectacular limestone scenery. Find a place to rest and enjoy the view with your @taylors coffee bags. Follow the path out the almost hidden green valley to a lane and then on up to the road. Head eastwards and take the path of towards Magpie Mine.

A great place for photography enthusiasts, and children who like to drop stones down the mine shaft and see if they can hear them hit the bottom! Find a spot and enjoy your coffee and imagine what it would have been like when the mine was operational! It’s an area of beauty and interest of a different sort in the Peak District. From the mine head northwards back towards Sheldon.
