OS Champion Elizabeth Asad has shared this lovely circular walk in the Ogwen Valley, it would be ideal for a walk with kids without any of the worries of gaining too much height.

This is a little circular route up to Cwm Tryfan in the Ogwen Valley. This is a perfect route as you get to be immersed in the mountains, it has waterfalls on the route and a lake. You get to have a little hands on rock as well. It’s perfect for someone who wants to get into the mountains without actually going up high, or if you have a afternoon free.

Note from The Editor:

Parking in Ogwen Valley can be busy, make sure you park legally as they regularly tow cars from this valley.

Cwm Tryfan Circular Walk – look out for the way points with descriptions below

Keeping climbing up the path where you will see waterfalls to your left.

Waypoint 4 – SH 6557 5942

A pit stop at Llyn Bochwlyd looking across to Y Garn

As you near Bochlwyd Buttress the path steepens however it’s a good path underfoot and you will soon be at Llyn Bochlwyd.

Waypoint 5 – SH 6607 5890

Walking from Llyn Bochwlyd up to Bwlch Tryfan.

When you pass Llyn Bochlwyd you need to keep the lake to your right. Follow a clear but rocky path which will climb steadily, until you reach a stile in a wall which marks Bwlch Tryfan.
