Sunset by the Sea at Birling Gap…
There’s something magical about watching the sun set over the sea, the perfect way to unwind after a 5 mile out and back walk along the cliffs of the South Downs National Park, passing two lighthouses and a trig along the way.

I timed my afternoon stroll to arrive back at the beach just over half an hour before sundown, finding a quiet spot with an uninterrupted view. The golden glow stretched across the water, casting a soft, warm light as the sky turned into dreamy shades of pastel pink and orange.

Sipping on coffee to keep away the evening chill, I listened to the waves, whilst breathing in the gentle sea air – taking a few moments to reflect on my day. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the crowds soon disappeared, but the show wasn’t over yet. The sky deepened into deep blues and purple hues, and the first stars appeared. It’s the perfect place to watch the transition into night!
