Walking beats gym membership in keeping slim
A new study from Dr Grace Lordan of London School of Economics shows brisk walking more effective in keeping slim than other options, including the gym, especially for the over 50s.
After suffering from tonsillitis continuously for over a year I got my tonsils removed. 2 weeks after the operation I decided to start hill walking. Every time I reach the summit of a mountain or hill I feel a sense of achievement that cannot be taken away and the reward of scenery so breathtaking it almost brings a tear to your eye. These things cost nothing and yet are the most rewarding! After a year of constant illness and not being able to move on with my life, the challenge of making it to every summit no matter how high or low, helps me to remember it is literally only onwards and upwards from here.
