Castle Combe was named after a long-gone castle, but the village itself is ancient - no new houses have been built since 1600AD. It's almost all Grade II listed.
Nettleton Mill ceased being a working mill some time before the first world war, but is now a holiday home - you can see it from the MacMillan Way footpath that runs along the mill stream and into the village itself. If you are interested in racing, the Castel Combe Race Circuit, based on a former RAF airfield, is just to the east.
