River Test by Tim Newman

The light fails on a tranquil winter’s evening over the River Test near Mottisfont in this photo submitted by Ordnance Survey's own Tim Newman, taken just a couple of weeks ago.

The River Test is a gently flowing river in Hampshire, near the OS Head office. For much of the length, you can follow the Test Way, a 72km (40 miles) long-distance footpath from Inkpen in west Berkshire to Eling, near Southampton. Much of the river is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and it's also a popular spot for fishing.

Tim has caught the last of the sun just as it was about to drop below the horizon in late afternoon, near Mottisfont village and Abbey.
