"There is a band of woodland south of Burnt Houses Lane at the northern edge of the Raby Castle parkland, with lots of paths. Carefully avoiding ones that say "no public access", there are still various ways to wander off the public footpath, and one of these brings one to "The Folly". Just a few metres down the track south from this, these two conifers silhouetted against the low winter sun caught my eye. Overnight radiation fog is just burning off at midday, but the ground still carries a frost."
