Meet Richie Rakauskas - Dorset based walker, wonderer, photography enthuasiast, content creator and outdoors soul.
What drives you to spend time outside?
On top of landscape photography being my ultimate passion, i also have a very stressful job and suffer from anxiety, and spending time outside is proven to be the best soul medicine.
Where are your favourite places to go?
As I live in the beautiful country of Dorset, the Jurassic coast is the place most visited by me, there is just so much to love about it.
What is your favourite thing to do outdoors?
That has to be taking photos from all angles that no-one has done before....just sitting on a rock or tree trunk with my eyes closed. I guess that's my own way of meditating.
Who inspires you and how?
I take a lot in inspiration from my fellow walkers with whom i interact all the time, particularly around new places to visit or routes to take. My love for outdoors was also inspired by people like Ray Mears and Iolo Williams.
What are your focuses this year to help people get outside more often?
I moved to Dorset from London a few years ago and started inviting my London friends to visit me on the coast and take part in outdoor adventures, thus helping them escape the hustle and bustle of the big city and re-charge their batteries. Will definitely be taking my work colleagues out for walks this year and raising money for charities.
What are your 3 biggest life achievements?
Leaving my home country of Lithuania and eventually settling down on the South West coast of UK is definitely one of them. As for the other two - turning my life around and becoming an outdoors person + learning most of what i know of hiking and photography through trial and error rather that info that is readily available to everyone.
