What drives you to spend time outside?
Because climbing & mountaineering, and the tremendous therapeutic benefits of the mountains, have helped me overcome a life changing diagnosis of Complex PTSD.
Where are your favourite places to go?
My absolute most favourite place in the UK is Snowdonia; I also love mountaineering in the Highlands, rock climbing in Pembrokeshire, and - closer to home - walking on the beach at Stokes Bay on the Solent.
What is your favourite thing to do outdoors?
Have fun whilst rediscovering myself through adventure.
Who inspires you and how?
My wife and children - for having the courage, patience, and love, to see through the horror’s of my PTSD and, in turn, giving me the greatest reason in the world to carry on fighting my diagnosis.
What are your focuses this year to help people get outside more often?
My focus this year is to champion the tremendous therapeutic benefits of the outdoors on our mental and physical health - whoever we are, wherever we are.
What are your 3 biggest life achievements?
1 - my family, 2 - overcoming PTSD to summit Mount Everest, 3 - becoming a Royal Marines Officer.
