To feel free. I find it is an escape from everyday life and somewhere you can gather your thoughts. I love exploring new place and finding new routes off the beaten track. I enjoy spending time with people who share the same passions.
Where are your favourite places to go?
I love the Lake District and Snowdonia and was able to explore these whilst training to be a mountain leader. Scotland is just unbelievable and am yet to explore there more.
What is your favourite thing to do outdoors?
I love long day hikes, with a wild camp. Trail running, Climbing, Stand up paddleboarding. There is just so much to do outside.
Who inspires you and how?
High altitude mountaineers inspire me and their drive to complete unthinkable challenges. I work in mental health and seeing people progress and achieve goals inspires me, it makes you believe anything is possible.
What are your focuses this year to help people get outside more often?
I want to encourage more people to try different outdoor activities and explore our wonderful national parks. I have travelled all over the world, but every time I come home i realise how lucky we are to have places like the Lake District and Snowdonia on our doorstep. I want to give people confidence navigating and planning routes, as that can often be a barrier when wanting to get outside.
What are your 3 biggest life achievements?
Summiting my first 6000m peak in the Indian Himalayas. Becoming a mountain leader. Being part of the Get Outside team.
