What drives you to spend time outside?
Where are your favourite places to go?
Anywhere with incredible landscapes and/or wildlife. We’re constantly surprised and amazed at the places we discover on our trips around the UK and there are many places we still want to visit and many others we can’t wait to return to.
What is your favourite thing to do outdoors?
We love exploring – on foot, bike or boat; with the kids or solo adventures; local trails or epic endurance challenges.
Who inspires you and how?
Everyone who overcomes barriers and gets out there anyway. We’ve met so many inspiring people outside. Sometimes it’s at the expected places like festivals and races, but more often it’s those we meet randomly - at the tops of mountains, out on the trails, swimming at dawn, families and friends taking on their own challenges – and these are the really inspiring ones.
What are your focuses this year to help people get outside more often?
We have a couple of new books coming out – one on day walks in Somerset and the other aimed at those getting outside with kids. Hopefully these will provide a bit of inspiration!
What are your 3 biggest life achievements?
A few years ago we decided to go and live in a tent for a year with our two young children, enabling us to travel, write books and get ourselves established as outdoor writers. That probably covers all three!
3 words you live by…
Considered. Sustainable. Fun.
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
We have many pleasures. But we don’t feel guilty about any of them
