Why do your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?
Lucy Atkins of Two Blondes Walking is the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Manager at Trinity School, Teignmouth and explains why doing your DofE is a great idea.
Snowboarding...Abseiling...ZORBING!! This is an exhilarating experience that you don't want to miss. Take to the hills, the water or the pitch, and have the time of your life. Filled with laughter (or screams), zorbing is great fun.
You’ve tried snowboarding, you’ve tried abseiling; but have you rolled down a hill in a giant hamster ball? No? Then welcome to the up and coming sport of zorbing.
Remember when you used to roll yourself down a slope as a kid? Hill zorbing is the grown up version of that - with higher slopes and faster speeds. Reaching up to 25mph, hill zorbing is certain to make you laugh (or scream). Take the original strapped in experience, spinning, twisting and turning to the bottom; or go freestyle with a hydro ride! Slip and slide your way to the bottom in an aqua zorb filled with water, perfect in hot weather.

Water walking zorbs, or water balls, are a great way to help keep children fit and healthy, while offering a unique 'walking on water' experience. One of the first water balls appeared in the film Diamonds Are Forever in 1971 and also in the Beach Boys music video, Getcha Back (1985).
In the UK, you can try water walking zorbing at certain swimming pools, marinas, the seaside and other public bodies of water. Each session does vary in cost and length. Almost all zorbs will be tethered, so parents can have piece of mind about where their children may end up!
Discover water walking zorbing for yourself at the National Diving and Activities Centre
Strap yourselves into your own one man zorb suit and split off into teams. Top tip: Rather than tackle, use the more effective barge technique to win the ball off your opponents sending them flying head over heels in the process. When in control of the ball, dribble it forward before smashing it home past the goalie, but beware, a barge could come from any direction! This is perfect for parties and much better than a kick around in the park.
Get your team together and try bubble football for yourself.
Whether you want a twisting and turning downhill roll, a relaxing water float or move out the way football match, Zorbing is an experience not to be missed.
