Ordnance Survey have partnered with Water-to-Go to bring you this awesome bit of kit which allows you to stay hydrated whilst protecting our planet. The need to reduce litter and limit our plastic usage has never been more important. Not only will reducing single-use plastic help the environment but it will preserve nature's beauty and make getting outside more enjoyable for all.

In short, Water-to-Go is a water filter bottle that will allow you to fill up from any taps, river or stream to name but a few and access clean drinking water anytime, anywhere; without needing single-use plastic water bottles.

Water-to-Go is a UK business, founded in 2010 by Dave Shanks who sought to create a sustainable and reusable alternative to single-use plastic water bottles after seeing the effects of plastic pollution first-hand in Mauritius.

He then developed a filter for the bottle and so Water-to-Go was born. Realising that here was a technology that could provide clean, healthy water almost anywhere and which could also reduce the environmental damage being done was the motivation to establish the Water-to-Go brand and business.

Since then, the business has grown and is now trading in over 50 countries.

The Water-to-Go filters contain 3 different technologies (that were originally developed at the for NASA) that combine to eliminate over 99.9% of all microbiological contaminants including viruses, bacteria, chemicals and heavy metals from any non-saltwater source.

This has been tested and confirmed by major testing houses on 3 different continents; the results of which are on the website.

Many different adventurers, outdoor enthusiasts and tourists have used the bottles all over the world in order to keep them safe without needing single-use plastic bottles.

Currently, one of the Water-to-Go ambassadors, Ash Dykes, is walking the length of the Yangtze River in China, aiming to be the first person ever to do so, and is keeping hydrated by filling up straight from the Yangtze.

Water-to-Go are also big advocates of exploring the great outdoors and discovering what the world has to offer.

There are various reasons as to why we all don’t get outside more - whether it is because of busy work schedules or the great British weather - but a common problem for many families in particular is water.

Ordnance Survey are delighted to be working with Water-to-Go to help remove one barrier to being more active outdoors, as a part of the #GetOutside initiative.

Having to carry several litres of water (often in single-use plastic bottles) to last the whole day can weigh a lot and could really slow you down preventing you fully enjoying the outdoor experience.

But with a Water-to-Go bottle, you won’t have that issue. They give you peace of mind by providing safe drinking water whenever you need it.

You could fill up your bottles at the start of the day or simply fill up from a stream along your route when you are feeling a bit parched.

The filter does all the hard work for you by eliminating any harmful contaminants as well as any bad tastes (straight away, as you drink) so you can all stay healthy and hydrated on your outdoor activities.

If you have been following The GetOutside champions such as Dave Love, James Forrest, Kate Jamieson and Mel Nichols on social media; you would have already seen them using the Water-to-Go bottles on their adventures and excursions.

Dave Love used the bottles to keep him safe and hydrated when he circumnavigated the Gambia last year and also donated several bottles to the children in the community he visited.

Water-to-Go are working with OS as we share the same vision and values particularly around protecting our environment and reducing plastic pollution.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the past year, you would have seen governments, organisations and high-profile experts such as David Attenborough highlight the disastrous effect that single-use plastic pollution is having on our planet and oceans, and that action has to be taken.

Over 1 million single-use plastic bottles are bought every minute and many of those bottles eventually escape our waste-management systems and end up in our oceans and waterways.

It is imperative that we tackle this. Of course, there is action higher up with governments and manufacturers that has to happen but we all have to do our bit.

Using a Water-to-Go bottle is the perfect way to completely eliminate single-use plastic water bottles from your life.

Whether your day takes you to the gym, to Glasgow or to Ghana; Water-to-Go will deliver clean drinking water wherever you are without needing single-use plastic bottles. This will ultimately protect your health, your finances and, most importantly, our planet.

So make a difference today, join the Water-to-Go community and together we will Change the World, One Bottle at a Time.

Keep up to date with the Water-to-Go journey on social media and find out more information on their website.
