Get involved - Walk to School Week, 15 - 21 May 2017
This week is the official walk to school week. It’s a great chance for children of all ages to get outside, at least for a few minutes. Here’s our top tips on getting involved.
Share your favourite UK outdoor memories on Twitter using the hashtag #mapmemories to be in with a shot of wining one of three personalised maps.
Do you have an interesting, perhaps life-changing memory from an outdoor trip you once took in the UK? Perhaps you proposed at a famous landmark, performed a heroic deed whilst out hiking, or met your partner for the first time at a music festival. It could be anything; but whatever it is, we want to know about it.
Here at Ordnance Survey, we love nothing more than being outside. Sure, some people are indoorsy types, but when you think back through your life, chances are that most of your most cherished memories took place out in the open.
You can’t beat it really; vast landscapes, flowing rivers, green pastures, wonderful wildlife, even torrential rain and hurricane winds – this is the stuff we look back on with joy (once we’re home and dry, in the case of bad weather).
So start reminiscing. Think about those important moments in life that shaped who you are, and all the silly, fun frolics you’ve participated in that still make you laugh today.
Then head to the Ordnance Survey Twitter account (or just tag @OSLeisure) and tweet your memory to us using the hashtag #mapmemory.
You could win a custom-made, personalised map of the UK area in which your memory takes place. It would make an ideal Christmas gift for anyone else involved in the memory (your partner, for example) or just a fantastic thing to get framed and hang up in the living room.
All participants will need a Twitter account, so if you have yet to join, sign up now. All memories must take place in the UK.
Competition terms and conditions:
There are 3 custom made maps to be won. Valid entries must include a photo. Entry is through Ordnance Suvey's Facebook page or the OSLeisure Twitter account. OS may use your stories in other marketing material. Competition closes Wednesday 25 November. Winners will be notified within 7 working days of the draw. Prizes must be redeemed within 10 days from notification.
